Jamie Hayes has been in all aspects of the fitness industry since the late 70’s when he started teaching aerobics. In 1981 he and his wife Ellen opened their first club. Since then he has owned and operated 5 more clubs.
Jamie was an early presenter in fitness leader courses, and has presented in group-ex, strength training and business at many Filex conventions. He was Australia’s first National Fitness Leader of the Year. For over a decade Jamie has lived interstate from his Sydney club. This has required him to take a systemised approach to club management.
He also operates a franchise across Australia and New Zealand, and has developed a licensed weight loss coaching program for fitness professionals. Jamie has a keen interest in business strategy and small business mentoring. He is passionate about the health benefits of lifelong strength training.
Training Director – Asia Pacific
Darryl was based at TRIBE HQ in Wanaka New Zealand for 3.5 years to lead the initial roll out to clubs in that market, plus provide coach training support to the Asia Pacific agency. He’s now relocated to Australia to work with the team there as the Asia Pacific agency begins to grow.
He has an an extensive background as an educator, coach, trainer, and facilitator. After studying Physical Education at Otago University in New Zealand, followed by Teachers College, he taught at secondary school level before turning his hand to presenting on an educational programme for Television New Zealand.
From there his journey into the fitness, health, and well-being industry began in earnest. Along with working within clubs as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer, including coaching, training and mentoring his peers, he’s also worked at management level, and travelled extensively presenting at workshops and facilitating training sessions for fitness professionals both within New Zealand and overseas.
